We pay tribute to the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Huron-Wendat and Cree people, the traditional guardians of this land. We recognize the long-standing sacred bond between him and this land which remains unceded. We acknowledge that we are practicing on their traditional homeland and thank these nations for their care and stewardship over this shared land.

We also pay tribute to all the Indigenous peoples who inhabit the areas of Kingston, Ottawa and Northern Ontario, whether they are from the region or from elsewhere in Canada.

We recognize the custodians of traditional knowledge, young and old.

We also honor their courageous leaders of yesterday, today and tomorrow.
